SkinPen Microneedling

This innovative procedure works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries to the skin. The skin’s natural healing process then prompts the increased production of collagen which tightens and smooths out the skin, improving rough texture, sun damage, large pores, scarring and fine lines. It is the go-to anti-aging procedure for celebrities and models. While patients see the superficial improvement within a week after undergoing the initial procedure, radiant skin becomes more apparent as the deeper skin continues its healing process. After the skin is numbed with topical numbing cream, very fine needles are used to create microscopic channels in the skin. Most patients report that microneedling feels like being lightly scratched with sandpaper. Immediately after the procedure, you may experience a small amount of pinpoint bleeding and redness at the treatment area (sunburn appearance). This is temporary and should subside within a day or two. You will be sent home with a Post Procedure Kit, which will soothe the skin and reduce redness. Patients are required to stay in clean environments for the rest of the day and should avoid areas like the gym, hospitals and daycares where germs are prevalent. Patients should also avoid intense sun exposure until the treated area has healed, typically two days. Patients will require three to six treatments, repeated every four to six weeks, to achieve their desired results. The most common areas treated are the face, neck, and chest. It is also highly effective for reducing stretch marks and acne scars.
